Welcome to our website

Why is on a pocket watch chain a key? Or why would you need a funeral casket key? Are you sure that you have found all of the secret compartments in your great grandfather’s desk?

If you would like to join us in searching for clues, please visit us at the world’s largest special museum for locks, keys, coffers, cases and cast iron:

In the Hanns Schell Collection
We are proud to present keys from the Celtic Age to the Industrial Age, lockable treasures, locks from Europe, Africa and Asia as well as objects of cast iron and wrought iron distributed over 2.500 m2 on three floors. You can browse through the exhibition on your own – there are detailed descriptions of each work – or you can arrange an expert tour with one of our employees to hear the history surrounding our objects.

We even offer special children‘s tours for our small guests.
