The Hanns Schell Collection is the world’s largest museum of locks and keys, coffers, ornamental boxes, chests, safes and ornate cast iron. This unique collection is displayed on two floors and comprises an area of more than 2500 square meters.
The museum also offers visitors a special hands-on opportunity to discover the secrets of several unique locking systems.
Expert guided tours are available for schools, companies and associations, travel groups or individual visitors. The tours take between one to one-and-a-half hours, depending on the visitors’ interests. Our tours offer an insight into the history and development of locking devices, the origins of chests, coffers and ornamental boxes, as well as national customs and popular beliefs in connection with locks and keys.
